    • DESCRIPTION:  Hard bound
    • CONDITION:  Slightly worn corners; Gold-leaf imprint on spine somewhat faded, but still readable. Pages and plates are in excellent condition.
    • NOTES:  Though some of the information is out of date, this collector's item is an important reference for specialists collecting cowrie shells. Species are arranged by subgenera and illustrated with somewhat stylized drawings on the color plates. This was one of the important Cypraeidae references of its time. Plate 15 also includes Allied Cowries.

    • NOTES:  One of the classic general books on sea shells. Even though the species nomenclature in a number of cases is out-of-date, the thousand plus images are very useful for identification. Basic descriptions, sizes, and geographical distribution are provided with each species. Gastropods and Bivalves make up the bulk of the species covered.
